This is my 150th book review! For some reason, my brain really likes those multiples of 50. My 100th was Famous for a Living, and I think my 50th was Chasing the Prophecy; I literally just went through my archives and individually counted my reviews until I hit 50.
I finished this one the other day but am getting around to the review just now. I've been having fun writing a new book of my own when I have some free time. The other books I've previously reviewed by Traci Hunter Abramson are Freefall, Failsafe, and Royal Target.

This is our book club's book for this month. I also discovered that it is Janssen from Everyday Reading's book club book this month, which was a pretty crazy coincidence! I've started a few Brandon Sanderson books but haven't finished any before this one. Don't get me wrong, they weren't bad. Part of the problem, I think, is that I've attempted Brandon Sanderson's books in physical format only, not audio, which is really my jam. So even though I enjoyed reading Tress of the Emerald Sea, to give one example, I just never got around to finishing it and then had to return it to the library.
All of that to say... this was really my first Sanderson book. And may I just say, what. a. ride. The premise of this book intrigued me from the first time I came across it. I was actually looking forward to its release on Bookshelf+ so I could give it a read (listen). I was a little bit nervous because I've read one other book by the author and didn't love it at all (Lies Jane Austen Told Me). But that was a contemporary, and this is a regency, so I had higher hopes for this one!
There are 26 books that are related to one another in this series and others. The Jonquil Brothers series has 8 on its own (that count includes The Kiss of a Stranger, which focuses on a family friend who's not actually a Jonquil brother, as well as Charming Artemis, which is part of both the Jonquil Brothers series and the Lancaster Family series). I've finished 11 of them, most likely DNFd one, and started one that I will try again later. I'm not even halfway through all the related books yet, but it's kind of fun to get closer and closer with each book!
Here are the series-related books that I've read (hyperlinked) and have yet to read (in parenthese): Georgian-era Books 1. Forget Me Not / 2. ("The Holly and the Ivy" [novella]) / 3. Lily of the Valley / 4. (Fleur de Lis - I have started but put down for now) Regency-era Books 5. Seeking Persephone / 6. Courting Miss Lancaster / 7. Glimmer of Hope / 8. Romancing Daphne / 9. The Kiss of a Stranger / 10. Friends & Foes / 11. Drops of Gold / 12. (For Elise - I think this is going to be a DNF) / 13. As You Are / 14. A Fine Gentleman / 15. For Love or Honor (current review) / 16. (Loving Lieutenant Lancaster) / 17. ("Christmas at Falstone Castle" [novella]) / 18. (The Heart of a Vicar) / 19. (The Best-Laid Plans [novella]) / 20. (Charming Artemis) / 21. (The Best Intentions) / 22. (The Best of Friends) I started this book a year or two ago on Janssen from Everyday Reading's recommendation. (Fun fact: She and her family used to be in our same church congregation... but that was before we moved here, so I've never met her haha.) I just couldn't get into it. But it was picked for our March 2024 book club book, so I checked it out to give it another go. (And that actually took more effort than you'd think because the first 5 or 6 times I tried to get it for Hoopla, my library's daily borrow limit had already been reached--sometimes at 8 in the morning!)
Annnnnyway, I'm hosting book club tonight, so I thought it would be a smashing idea to actually read the whole book before leading a discussion on it. And I did it! I've reviewed a couple ARCs from Sierra Wilson before, and I've had enough good experiences with her work that I don't think I'm very likely to tell her know if she offers me an ARC. I first read and reviewed (not as an ARC) Standout Saints. After that, I was an ARC reader for My Testimony Tree and Revelation is My Flashlight. Danika Runyan illustrated this book, and she was also the illustrator for Revelation is My Flashlight.
I'm currently sitting in some friends' living room babysitting after bed time. In other words, I've got a chance to write this book review in a quiet space with no dishes or laundry calling to me. Also, I really wanted something sweet after dinner tonight, but I didn't have time to stop and get something before coming here. What was one of the first things our friends said to me when I came in? Answer: "Do you want a snack? Some trail mix?" And it happens to be the kind of trail mix that has multiple kinds of chocolate in it. The Lord's mercies may seem small, but they are tender!
Anyway. Continuing my way through Sarah M. Eden's related books and series! In the lists below, the books I've reviewed on BBB are hyperlinked; the ones I haven't read are in parentheses. Georgian-era Books 1. A Fine Gentleman (current review) / 15. (For Love or Honor) / 16. (The Best of Friends - coming April 2024) I loved this book! I can't even wait to write the full review to tell you that.
This is the 4th book in the Jonquil Brothers series which overlaps with the Lancaster Family series and is preceded (chronologically) by the Gents series. There are also a couple of stand-alones mixed in there. Check out Sarah M. Eden's website for a list of all the related books. The ones I've read and reviewed from that list are below. Forget Me Not Lily of the Valley Seeking Persephone Courting Miss Lancaster Glimmer of Hope Romancing Daphne The Kiss of a Stranger Friends & Foes Drops of Gold As You Are (current review) After finally finishing the Merchant and the Rogue, I felt like going on a Sarah M. Eden kick. (Can you really call it a kick, though, if it's just 2 books in a row? I say yes. Especially because I haven't decided on my next audiobook yet, and it might very well be another Eden!) This is the third book in the Savage Wells series. I read the first one, the Sheriffs of Savage Wells, back in 2021 and the second, Healing Hearts, in 2022. The first was okay (Goodreads review included below), and I loved the second. This one probably fell in between the two. It took me a little bit of time to buckle up and read it because I got a minute or two into the audio and didn't care for the audiobook reader and then set it aside for almost a year, I think. And since I did this in my last review, I'll throw it in here, too: a list of all the Sarah M. Eden books I've read so far. The titles with reviews on my blog are hyperlinked.
This is the third installment of the Dread Penny Society series. You can't actually find full reviews on my blog for the first two because apparently I read those before I started the blog--and I didn't realize that until just now haha. BUT I do have short reviews on Goodreads for them. I'll put those in the review below for your reference (and, let's be honest, for my OWN reference). Also, apparently, the Lady and the Highwayman was my first read by Sarah Eden. Ha! I've read so many of her books since then that I never would have realized that! And if you're curious, here are all the books I've read or started by Sarah Eden, as of 2/26/24. If I've reviewed them on this blog, they're hyperlinked.
